Backstory.
Born into the world of Gangnam’s extravagant and wealthy, Daehyun Moon’s upbringing had been anything but normal. After all, his parents were Haeseong Moon and Jungah Kang, two of the most respected figures in South Korea's entertainment industry. Haeseong's relatives were known for starring in South Korean cinema since the 1950s, while Jungah’s lineage made constant headlines for being influential forces in the fashion and modeling industries.
It was impossible for anyone to deny their star power, even their own rivals couldn’t refute it!
Such an environment, however, brought immense pressure. As the only son, Daehyun was expected to make something great of himself. Most anticipated he would follow in his father’s footsteps, starring in high-class films and later becoming a director. Others believed he would sign under his mother's modeling agency, or even become a sports star like his elder sister, Dahee.
Daehyun held no interest in these activities, though. What he truly loved was music. For as long as he could remember, he'd been in love with singing. He was especially enamored by the artists he'd see perform on television. They looked as though they'd come from another world with their flamboyant outfits, flawless makeup and energetic stages. He wanted to be just like them when he grew up.
Fortunately, his mother agreed to hire a private vocal instructor for Daehyun after he expressed his interest in singing at age twelve. He'd practice an hour a day with his instructor, thirty minutes being spent on vocal training and the rest being spent on music reading. A year later, Daehyun joined his school's choir, where he was often praised for his powerful and distinct performances.
At fifteen, after a choir performance at his high school festival, Daehyun was scouted by a staff member of RN Entertainment, one of the up and coming record labels in South Korea. The staff said they were impressed by Daehyun's performance, and invited the young teen to audition for a spot at RN. He was astonished, but skeptical – so he told the staff member he'd think about it after they gave him their business card.
Daehyun stared at the card for days, pondering on whether or not he should audition. He wanted to be a singer so bad, but he wasn't sure on how his parents would react if he passed the audition. RN Entertainment was primarily an idol company, and he distinctly remembered his mother telling him that idols were at the bottom of the entertainment hierarchy – an "embarrassment" to the industry. After some encouragement from Dahee, though, he called the number and said he'd audition.
He kept the knowledge of his audition a secret from everyone except his sister, only breaking the news when he received a calling a few months later saying he'd passed. As expected, his parents (mostly his mother) were shocked and even angry by the news, but Daehyun didn't let their words get to him. He'd made up his mind, and he was going to stick by it. They'd get over it sooner or later.
Thus, after four years of training, Daehyun debuted as the main vocalist of RN Entertainment's newest boy group Diamond. Since 2014, the group has released two studio albums, eight extended plays and over fifteen singles. They've cemented their status as an important figure in the third generation of K-Pop, having sold millions of records and winning a number of prestigious awards.
Now that his group are in their seventh year, Daehyun has spent a lot of time reflecting on his career and polishing his vocal skills. With Diamond on hiatus in order to focus on individual activities, anything could be possible...
This section will be about Diamond. It's a WIP at the moment.
Admin & Regulations.
Hi, I'm Lynn! I'm 20 years old and live in the Eastern Time Zone. I've been roleplaying for about nine years and writing is a huge passion of mine; I even hope to publish a book one day! Before we get into the fun stuff, I'd like to go over a few rules:
✿ I'm open to just about any form of writing/genre. Banter, descriptions, storylines – if you're not sure about something, though, don't be afraid to ask!
✿ Crossovers and AUs are welcome!
✿ OOC chat! I love making new friends!
✿ Daehyun is multiship! I will only do romantic relationships with chemistry or if we have discussed a potential plot in advance.
✿ I don't write or interact with minors. If I don't see an age on your profile, I will not interact with you. If I find out you've been lying about your age, I will block you. Please don't do that!
✿ As I'm in my third year of college, I'm pretty busy whenever classes are in session. If I don't get to something right away, please don't pester me! I'll get to stuff when I can.
✿ I don't tolerate drama. If there's an issue, please DM me so we can work something out.
✿ This is a ROLEPLAY account. I am in no way affilated with Byun Baekhyun, EXO or SM Entertainment.
That's about it! Let's have fun. ♡
